Guide
How to order a MakerWorld, Printables or Thingiverse model from us
You do not need to own a printer. Download the file, upload it here and we manufacture it on high-end printers. You see the price before ordering anything.
- 1
Download the file
On MakerWorld, press “Download” and use the 3MF. On Printables or Thingiverse it will usually be an STL. If there are several versions, choose the one already oriented for printing.
- 2
Upload it to the configurator
Drag it into the file box. We measure it instantly —volume, surface area, height— and show you the price before you choose anything else.
- 3
Choose material and colours
Adjust material, quality and infill and you will see the price update live. If the model contains several parts, you can assign a different filament to each one.
If the model includes a 3MF, upload the 3MF, not the STL
An STL is just a mesh: it contains no colours, no separated parts and is sometimes lying on its side. A 3MF is what your slicer —Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Orca and others— exports, and it carries the information that actually matters.
- The parts arrive separated, so you can assign a different filament to each one in the configurator.
- It preserves the scale and orientation prepared by the author: there is no need to guess whether it was in millimetres or inches.
- MakerWorld models often come with colours already assigned, and we read them exactly as they are.
We also accept STL, OBJ, PLY and STEP with instant pricing. If your file is from another CAD format, upload it anyway and we will quote it manually the same working day.
Multicolour: check the price before deciding
Our X1Cs with AMS can print up to four colours in one part, but every colour change purges filament on each layer. On tall models, multicolour can multiply the price.
The configurator shows you this before you buy, with the estimated purge listed separately, so you can decide with the number in front of you instead of getting a surprise in the cart.
Before ordering: check the licence
Downloading a model does not give you every right to it. Each design has the licence chosen by its author, and on MakerWorld, Printables and Thingiverse most are non-commercial. You will find it on the model page below the download button.
CC0 and public domain
No restrictions. You can order the part and even resell it.
CC BY (attribution)
You can order it, including for resale, as long as you credit the author. We keep the attribution with the order.
Commercial licence from the author
Many MakerWorld creators sell commercial licences for their models. If you bought one, you are good to go.
CC BY-NC (non-commercial)
This is the most common one, and this is where the issue lies. You can print it for yourself; you cannot use it for your business or resell the part. If it is for personal use, there is no problem.
No licence stated
If the model does not say what is allowed, by default it allows nothing. Write to the author: they almost always reply.
What matters is what the part is for, not who prints it
Having us print it instead of printing it yourself at home does not change the licence: you are paying us for a manufacturing service, just as you would pay a print shop. If the model is non-commercial and the part is for you, there is no problem. If you are going to sell it or use it in your business, you need the author's permission.
Getting permission is usually easy: many MakerWorld creators sell commercial licences for their models, and those who do not publish one almost always reply if you write to them.
At checkout we ask what gives you the right to order the files you uploaded. It is not bureaucracy: it is what lets us manufacture them with confidence and what requires us to reject a job if we see that it infringes third-party rights, as set out in our terms of sale.
What if I cannot find the model I need?
If you need a specific part —a discontinued spare, a template for your workshop, a custom box— you do not need to find an existing model. Send us some photos with dimensions to hola@haztupieza.es and we will tell you whether we can design it, with a fixed price before we start.
